Fire Resistance of Silicate Mineral Paints

A fact that takes many people by surprise is that ordinary wall paints, particularly those rich in polymers add fuel in case a fire breaks out and can also contribute to hazardous gases due to depolymerization at elevated temperatures. Libraries (Abundant Combustible material), Schools and Hospitals (high percentage of children and elderly) are in particular quite vulnerable in case of a fire.

Silicate Mineral Paints on the other hand have binders that are mineral in nature and so do not add fuel to the fire. At most, they will simply char but not propagate the flame. This is demonstrated in the video below:
